Learning Objectives
for
Annotated Bibliography
The WR 316 Annotated Bibliography assignment is designed to help you achieve these learning objectives:
bullet Objective 1: Conduct exploratory research, identify sources and formulate plans for the content and genre(s) of your WR 316 Term Web Project;
bullet Objective 2: Adopt and apply college-level evaluation criteria for analyzing and selecting at least 10 recommended sources (must include both WWW and print sources) for inclusion in your Annotated Bibliography;
--Note Well: Pertinence to your WR 316 Term Web Project is certainly one important criterion for selection, but pertinence alone is not adequate justification for including a source in your Annotated Bibliography (we'll discuss acceptable evaluation criteria further in class during Week #5).
bullet Objective 3: Avoid plagiarism by adhering to copyright and "fair use" laws, and by following an accepted college-level academic style (e.g. MLA) for citing sources;
bullet Objective 4:  Follow accepted practices of "netiquette" by requesting permissions to link to and/or otherwise "use" WWWeb sources in your Annotated Bibliography;
bullet Objective 5:  Build your competency in performing FrontPage 2000 basic operations in constructing the web presentation of your Annotated Bibliography (see FrontPage Lessons & E-Paper Evaluation Criteria)
bullet Objective 6:  Take into account cyber-rhetorical principles of effective web communication in constructing the web presentation of your Annotated Bibliography

Directions for Annotated Bibliography 1.  Create a template for your Annotated Bibliography web pages; then reproduce your template, rename and retitle your reproduced Annotated Bibliography Entry & Body web pages; and create navigation links among your Annotated Bibliography web pages and your WR 316 Home Page.

2. Annotated Bibliography entry web page:

bullet Describe your Proposed WR 316 Term Web Project**, including topic, genre(s), purpose, and intended audience;
bullet List evaluation criteria you used to select recommended sources included in your Annotated Bibliography
bullet Create navigational link(s) among your Annotated Bibliography entry and body web page(s), and your WR 316 Home Page

3.  Annotated Bibliography body web page(s):  For each of the 10 WWW and print sources included and recommended in your Annotated Bibliography:

bullet Write a full bibliographical entry, following or acceptably adapting a recognized academic documentation style (e.g. MLA)--both to avoid plagiarism and to enable your web-users to locate the source for themselves;
bullet In addition:
--WWWeb sites should be hyperlinked;
--Print sources: include any additional information that will help your web-users locate these sources (e.g. Library of Congress catalog number, ISBN number, local COCC and/or ORBIS availability, etc.)
bullet Write a concise summary of the contents, with attention to what the source has to offer on the topic and/or form of your proposed Term Web Project;
bullet Write a concise evaluation of the strengths, as well as any significant weaknesses, of each recommended source, based on college-level evaluation criteria:
--Since you are recommending all sources included in your Annotated Bibliography
, you must justify your choices by stating persuasive reason(s) why--i.e. each source's strength(s);
--Even so, any given source may also have noteworthy weakness(es) that you should state.
Evaluation Criteria & Grading Your web-published Annotated Bibliography assignment  demonstrates that . . .
bullet You have followed assignment directions given above;
and
bullet You have met or exceeded assignment learning Objectives given above
 *Preview: Term Web Project To help you formulate your Description/Proposal of the WR 316 Term Project (in your Annotated Bibliography entry page), I offer these guidelines and expectations.  Your WR 316 Term Web Project . . .
bullet ...may be individually or collaboratively developed:
You may propose to work with another WR 316 student in producing a collaborative WR 316 Term Project, but if so understand that I will expect partners to produce more (pro-rata) than I would expect from a WR 316 student working individually;
bullet ...must be "content-rich" (i.e. not just a collection of links).*
This requirement also means that your Term Web Project site must offer original content based on a significant amount of new research and writing produced during this term.
Even so, as discussed in class, you may adapt or build
upon:

-- a writing and research Term Project assigned in another of your other OSU-Cascades / EOU classes this term,
and/or
--a writing and research project previously completed for a college course.
bullet ...will include a Cyber-Rhetorical Analysis & appropriate web site evaluation criteria (Term Web Project requirements to be discussed in future class meetings)
