Getting Organized: Your E-Paper (Multi-Page) Web Presentation

1. Navigational Flow Chart - The Big Picture
(Cora will illustrate in class):
bullet

Index page (AKA: Home Page)

bullet

E-Paper "Entry" page

bullet

E-Paper "Body" pages:
Deciding how/where to divide up your E-Paper into multiple pages, and how many pages your E-Paper will have;
Creating Sub-headings (Page Titles) for your E-Paper "Body"  pages;

bullet

E-Paper "End" page (AKA: Conclusion/Works Cited/Exit page)

2. Organizing Your Web:

bullet

Drag (move) any pages you no longer need into the "Templates" folder - to get them out of your way.

bullet

What's now on your index page?  Open it and see.  You'll need to design your "Home Page" (if you haven't already) - that's the page web visitors will see first!

bullet

Delete unneeded pages...but only when you're sure you no longer need them! (see Cora).

3. Finalizing your E-Paper "Master" (AKA: Template or Blank) page for reproduction (i.e. copying and renaming)
(...and Cora may try to help by doing things to your web because I lost my voice Tuesday night and may not be able to talk you through it this Thursday!)

bullet

Layout (Theme, Table, Colors, etc.)

bullet

Header

bullet

Body Text Space

bullet

Column or Row for Navigational Links among pages in your web

bullet

Footer

4.  Create all your E-Paper pages (Entry, Body, End pages)
copied from your E-Paper "Master" (AKA: template, blank) page
(...and Cora may try to help by doing things to your web because I lost my voice Tuesday night and may not be able to talk you through it this Thursday!)
bullet

Rename each page

bullet

Identify each page by editing header and footer

bullet

Copy-and-paste text into each page

bullet

And SAVE of course!!

5.  Create (column and/or row of ) Navigational Links among pages in your web (after you have set up all your E-Paper pages) on your E-Paper entry page
See Internal Navigational Links for FrontPage directions
(from Lesson #4: Creating Hyperlinks ).

6.  Copy (column and/or row of ) Navigational Links from entry page and Paste to other pages in your web: i.e. both your E-Paper pages and the Index page (i.e. Home Page) of your WebAnd SAVE, of course, every page in the process!!

7.  Design/Edit the Index page (i.e. Home Page) of your Web so that you provide: (a) some kind of self-identifying welcoming message; and (b) navigational link(s) that enable your web-users to access (at least the entry page of) your E-Paper.

Be advised that:

bullet

Cora will create a table of contents page linking to the Index (Home) pages all WR 316 students' webs this weekend.

bullet

When other WR 316 students (especially your Workshop group) use Cora's WR 316 table of contents page to access your index page (AKA: the Home Page of your web) on their internet browsers, they should find--at the least-- a welcoming message and working navigational link(s) that will take web users to your E-Paper (entry page).

8. AS TIME ALLOWS on Thurs., 4/17/02 [or next week-- if time doesn't allow on 4/17/02), Cora will provide more in-class instruction on the following topics:

bullet

Internal Bookmark Links (from Lesson #4: Creating Hyperlinks);

bullet

Others by request....demonstrate in class?
