Topic Possibilities
FINAL PROJECT PAPER Requirements & Parameters:
1. Length: about 1000 words (depending variations in font and point size, approximately 4 - 6 typed/wordprocessed and double-spaced pages).
2. Final Project Papers must be typed/word processed and double spaced, and
MS: follow standard Manuscript Form (e.g. for MLA-style heading, running page headers, etc.) as directed for previous formal written assignments.3. Avoid Plagiarism: Cite your sources! MS: You must be perceived to be making a good faith effort to follow directions and models that have been given in class previously this term.
(See Manuscript Form & Source Citation handout and citations given in online HUM 211 materials for advice & models, and/or consult Cora in advance of deadlines for help in citing your sources.)4. Design a Final Project that will EXTEND your HUM 211 learning experience beyond assigned primary African/African-Caribbean texts and secondary course resources that we have studied together this term. (That is, do something NEW!!) This requirement can be fulfilled in various ways, as discussed in class during Weeks #8 & #9.
For example: Focus on a new African or African-Caribbean creative work (e.g. a short story or film) that we have not studied together this term in HUM 211. (See Final Project Topic Possibilities online handout for list of some films and short story collections that Cora has placed on COCC Library Reserve)
NOTE: Questions & Topic Ideas re: Final Project are welcome & encouraged at any time during Weeks #8 - #10!!5. Use this Final Project to pursue a HUM 211-related topic of genuine interest to you; and to build your competencies in HUM 211 course Learning Outcomes (see Hum 211 Syllabus for detailed list of course learning outcomes).
6. Choose a writing Genre that suits your selected topic, interest, and assignment parameters. Several possibilities have been discussed in class during Weeks #8 & #9, including Study Guide, Critical Introduction, Literary/Film Analysis Essay, Comparison/Contrast Essay, Research-based Paper or Critical Review of Sources (i.e. Annotated Bibliography with Introduction & Conclusion).
7. Other Genres and/or Topics (so long as they are HUM 211-related and fulfill general Final Project requirements & parameters) may be proposed to Cora for approval - but do so no later than Tues., March 11, 2003!

Extra Credit Option: Provide Cora with E-version of your Final Project Paper and give Cora permission to web-publish on Hum 211 web, specifying whether you wish to web-publish under your name or anonymously.

To pick up course work & Final Grade Reports, HUM 211 students should

While other possible Topics for the Final Project that satisfy assignment parameters [to be previewed & discussed in class Wks #8-#9] will be considered, Cora's initial suggestion is to choose an African or African-Caribbean Short Story or Film as the subject of your Final Project.
