Week #2 -

Select one (or more) previous writing assignment/s and/or other projects that you have saved in electronic form, to be uploaded and published on your new Spring 2003 WR 316 student web.
Weeks #2 - #4: Learn FrontPage 2000 basic operations - presented in-class as several FrontPage 2000 lessons - and apply these lessons to developing and editing your WR 316 web.
In so doing, adhere to academic publication standards for fair use and citation of sources (as relevant) to avoid plagiarism and copyright violations.
Weeks #4 - #5 - Evaluation: 1. Peer Review Workshop; 2. Instructor Critique; & 3.  Self-Evaluation

Assignment #1 Learning Objectives Checklist:
Your student web should demonstrate that you can perform these FrontPage 2000 basic operations:

1. Launch FrontPage 2000 and Open your web;

2. Understand Page Views displayed in FrontPage 2000, and Open webpages and folders in the Folder List frame, for review and editing in the main frame;

3. Create and/or reproduce (new) webpages in your web, (re)naming (e.g. .../filenames.htm) them, entering & saving page Titles using one or another of the ways demonstrated in class; 

4. Transfer your wordprocessed document/s (i.e. your paper/s) from disk to web successfully;

5. Enter and edit text (e.g. type in, copy-and-paste, move, copy, delete, format, conduct spell-checks, & etc.) in your web pages,

6. Understand and apply the cyber-rhetorical rationales of, and/or FrontPage operations used to produce, Cora's web page templates (e.g., Headers, Footers, Design and Layout using Themes and/or Tables, etc.);

7. Adopt, adapt (e.g. Cora's web page templates) and/or create (new) web page templates, and reproduce these templates when designing "entry" (e.g Home Page ...index.htm/l) and/or "body" pages in your web;

8. Create appropriate headers, footers, page divisions, etc., for all pages within your web;

9.  Create these different types of hyperlinks on pages within your web: 
(a) Absolute/external links to WWWeb sites outside your own web;
(b)
Relative/internal navigational links between pages in your website; 
(c) Relative/internal bookmark links to specific places within at least one of your webpages;

10.  Preview within FrontPage and Access on internet browser (e.g. Microsoft Explorer) pages in your own web in order to review and verify your (edited/revised) webpages;

NOTE: Thoughtful experimentation with FrontPage capabilities (beyond the basics required above) and/or with web page design, is encouraged and will be rewarded!

Evaluation Assignment #1 Evaluation will have three (3) components:
1.  Peer Workshop: Review & Constructive Criticism of other WR 316 students' webs;
2.  Instructor Critique of student's web
3.  S
elf-evaluation: Student web-author's own evaluation of her/his web (so far), after seriously considering Peer Workshop and Instructor critiques.

Evaluation Criteria to be considered:  Demonstration of ability . . .
--to achieve Assignment #1 learning Objectives by performing  targeted FrontPage basic operations;
--to avoid plagiarism by adhering to academic standards of source fair use and citation;
--to consider cyber-rhetorical principles of effective web communication.
NOTE: Peer Workshop, Instructor Critique, and Self-Evaluation Directions will be explained and discussed further in class during Week #4.
