Announcement: Student E-Mail Accounts - Winter 2003

Students at COCC are automatically given a COCC email account as soon as they register for a credit course taking place during the current or a future term. Students NO LONGER need to "apply" for an email account. Their account will be automatically generated within 3 days of their registration.

Student email account user names and passwords will usually be:

User Name: first initial of the first name followed by the last name -- all letters will be in lower-case format, with no spaces; e.g., bklett.

Password: first initial of first name, first initial of last name (both initials will be in upper-case format), followed by the last 7 digits of the student's social security number; e.g., BK3456789.

If a student has a hyphenated last name (e.g., Barbara Winn-Klett), their user name would be the first initial of the first name followed by the last name minus the hyphen (e.g., bwinnklett). That person's email account would be the first initial of the first name followed by the last name minus the hyphen @cocc.edu (e.g., bwinnklett@cocc.edu).

If there are two people with the same name (e.g., John Doe), the first initial of the student's middle name will act as the distinguishing factor (e.g., John M. Doe would be jmdoe while John T. Doe would be jtdoe).

DE-ACTIVATION of COCC Student E-Mail Accounts

There is a one term grace period from the last term attended before a student account will be deactivated.  Below are the rules used to determine how long a student can keep the COCC email account.

bullet Two terms after the student's last term of attendance (or application), the COCC email account will be deactivated. (Choosing not to attend summer will not count as a term missed).
bullet Students will always receive a warning email before the COCC email account is deactivated.
bullet One term after the student account is deactivated, it will be deleted.

For example, if a credit student during Fall Term 2002 who did not return either Winter 2003 or Spring 2003, the COCC email account would be deactivated by the 4th week of Spring 2003. Unless the COCC email account is re-activated by registration activity for Summer or Fall 2003, the COCC email account would be removed during the 4th week of Summer Term.

The College has the right to prescribe a deviation from the above guidelines. If you have problems or questions, please contact:
