TERM PROJECT- INTRODUCTION

►My name is Jan Vrbata and I am a student at Eastern Oregon University in Bend, OR. The reason why I decided to write about the book Schindler's List and about the film of the same name is probably my origin. I was born in Czechoslovakia where some parts of the story of Oskar Schindler took a place. Also many Jews used to live in Czechoslovakia until the WW II. I remember my grandfather (who comes from a town in so called Sudetland - a land close to the borders with Germany and Poland) telling me about many of his Jewish friends he had known before the war and whom he never saw again after.

►I hope that this project will be a helpful resource for high school and college students or for anyone who is interested in Holocaust, historical fiction (literature and film), and related topics.

►This project is divided into five segments.

1) A brief introduction of the film and the book

2) Thomas Keneally - the author of the book Schindler's Ark (Schindler's List)

3) Steven Spielberg - the director of the film Schindler's List

4) Literary and film critiques

5) Annotated bibliography
