Central Oregon Community College offers both a wildland fire science AAS degree and provides individual wildland fire courses (S-Classes) in cooperation with the East Slope Training Committee. These courses are sanctioned and authorized by the Pacific Northwest Wildfire Coordinating Group. National Wildfire Coordinating Group Certificates are issued for successful completion.

Class offerings can change yearly, depending on the needs of the east slope agencies. Anyone can apply for acceptance to a class, but east slope members have priority for seating.

East Slope area Priority Nomination slots will be accepted until December 15, 2008. 
After December 15th, priority will be taken on a first come first serve basis until the class is full.

Remember: Anyone can apply for acceptance to a class, but east slope members have priority for seating.  A training nomination must be submitted for entrance to the class.  Because the short courses are sponsored by the East Slope Training region, the short (s-courses) are available to students in the following order:
1. Sponsored government and state employees, including structural fire agencies, from within the East Slope Training area.
2. Sponsored government and state employees, including structural fire agencies, from outside the East Slope Training area.
3. Full-time COCC students/part-time COCC students/other fire agencies (in that order) who meet the qualifications of the course. Students must provide a copy of training records to the program coordinator.
