Bend-La Pine School District key facts:

  • total number of certified media specialists in our schools: 2.1 (1 full time in Cascade Middle School; .6 in Jewell Elementary; .5 in Bear Creek Elementary)
     

  • current student-to-librarian ratio: 6,833:1

               
    Montana has the best current ratio: 185:1
                California has the worse
    current ratio: 4,326:1
               
    in 1999 the national average was 550:1

    Also, based on a 2002 school library report for our district:
     

  • average total library expeditures, including subscriptions & maintenance agreements: $8.81 per student  

              
    in 1997-98 the national average was $35 per student.
     

  • the mean of copyright date of Bend-La Pine school print collections : 1981 (mean of Bend-La Pine High School print collections: 1977)
