HW#3
Follow the directions in the link above to download and configure Mozilla
to read your COCC mail. When you have opened your email box and mail has
downloaded, take a screen snapshot of your computer. Paste the snapshot
into a Word document and then attach the Word document to an email to me.
Remember, a screen snapshot is done with the
PrtScn key.
HW#4 Take a snap shot of
the settings window of your email program at home. Show the
incoming/outgoing mail server settings. Paste your snapshot into a Word
document. Add to the document answers to the following: 1) Give the five email etiquette rules you think are most
important. 2) List at least three things you can do to reduce the SPAM you
get. Finally attach the Word document to an email and send it to
pcasey@cocc.edu with the
Subject
line: CIS94 Email.

Find a search engine other than MSN, Yahoo, or Google and explore its
features and help. Write a paragraph about some of the features and how to
use this engine.
Read the chapters in your textbook about web
browsers.
HW#6
Find at least 10 web sites that provide tutorials or help on "Searching
the Web." Create a "Searching" folder in your "Favorites" and put the 10
web sites into the folder. Display the folder on your screen with the 10
URLs and take a screen snap shot. Paste into a word processing document
and email the document to me as an attachment.

following questions with Word and attach your answers to an email to me
with the Subject line: CIS94 Search Questions.
- List at least 3 index search engines.
- List at least 3 subject directories.
- List at least 3 meta search engines.
- Describe briefly some of the electronic
reference tools available to COCC library users.
- Pick two of the topics below and search
for them. Describe the process you use in detail. (Topics will be posted
after Thursday's class.) Oops, here they
are.

Using
Outlook Express configure a news server (news.orst.edu). Subscribe to a
newsgroup and take a screen shot, paste it into Word.
Also describe in your Word document what a
ZIP files is, why are they used, and how do you work with one. Send the
file as an attachment to me with the Subject line:
CIS94 NewsZip.
