Orientation for Online Classes at COCC

You are visiting this page because you are interested in taking online courses from Central Oregon Community College (COCC).

Before you can register for an online course at COCC, you must have completed the application process for taking credit courses at COCC.

Once the application process is completed, you must successfully complete the Orientation for Online Classes mini course. Units 1 - 5 of the Orientation (which you must complete to enable you to register for all online courses) will:

Introduce you to the tools you may be using in your regular online course.

Help you determine whether you have the necessary hardware, software and technology skills for online courses (note: additional computer requirements may be necessary, as dictated by the program of study).
Prepare you for the kinds of time management, study, and communication skills you will need to be successful in your online courses.

The Orientation course is available for COCC students to complete independently and at any time over the Internet.

You must successfully complete the Orientation for Online Classes mini course only one time. After that, you will be cleared for future registrations in online classes offered at COCC. However, if a student successfully completes the Orientation for Online Classes mini course, yet proves during the course of the term to not have the technical skills necessary to function smoothly in an online classroom environment, Central Oregon Community College will revoke the clearance of the student to register for online classes offered at COCC.
