A n uphill yarding, clearcutting system, this live skyline obtains additional lateral reach with the "Dutchman" sideblock. The system requires a 3-drum yarder. After the carriage is sent out, the skyline is concurrently slacked and pulled to the side with the Dutchman line shown below. After the logs are attached, the skyline is tensioned and the Dutchman is slacked. This setup is needed if the carriage does not have lateral yarding capabilities. AKA "slackline system".
