INFORMATION CONCERNING COMPUTER USE

PLEASE READ IMMEDIATELY

In the spirit of helping us provide a studious atmosphere for all our patrons, please be sensitive to the public nature of our computers and the fact that others can view your screen.  The library has been notified (a written complaint may have been submitted) that a fellow patron feels offended by the contents displayed on the computer you are using.

The library does not monitor Internet use nor does it have control of the information accessed.  The library is not responsible for content or quality of the information retrieved. It supports the freedom of inquiry and the American Library Association statements on intellectual freedom linked to our library homepage. Note that computing for educational purposes is given precedence over computing pursuits of a more personal or recreational value. Please refer to the library policy at: http://campuslibrary.cocc.edu/About+the+Library/AUP/default.aspx, the COCC computer use policy at: http://web.cocc.edu/plab/Policies/policies.htm, and the college’s policy on sexual harassment in the COCC General Procedures Manual, section HR-3-1.

We hope you will understand the need to maintain an educational environment in the library. If you have questions or concerns about the library's acceptable use policy for its computers, please contact David Bilyeu, Library Director. His office is Room 222; telephone 383-7563, or email at dbilyeu@cocc.edu
