LIB 127 ASSESSMENT, EVALUATION AND PLANNING
Fall 2006-Spring 2007

Information Literacy Taskforce (January 2007) Recommendations
Accepted by COCC Composition Committee Jan. 2007
Accepted by AIM (Library Management Team) Jan. 2007

From Library Planning Blackboard Document: "Enrollment in Library 127 has fallen dramatically.    Research seems to be indicating that it is time to reconsider this component of library services from square one. If it remains a viable course (and that should be discussed) what  should it look like? What should be the content in this new information world? How does it related to the rest of the curriculum and how do we evaluate and assess it? Reinventing this service needs to be a priority for this year. We must develop a plan for how to do this before the end of fall term."

This planning webpage projects beyond the end of Fall Term 2006.   Re-inventing Lib 127 is necessarily  a recursive process and will need to involve composition instructors and other stakeholders as well as the COCC committee structure (particularly the Curriculum committee).  The planning process outlined here also incorporate and respond to--as it should--new and ongoing assessment  for Lib 127.   The Library Management Team will have recommendations early Winter term and will be able to develop a plan for committee (and administrative) review by mid-winter term.  Review by the COCC committee structure and administration may take some time; if all goes well, the Library may have an approved plan by early Spring term.  Implementation of any changes in for-credit offerings will eventually need to be reflected in the COCC Catalog and course schedule. Those deadlines are usually in early January.  Due to our timeline we will try to meet the deadline for the revised Fall schedule (early Spring) or the Winter 2008 schedule.
