faculty struggling with incorporating IL in WR sequence...how to assist
beyond the workshop previously offered?
October 2010: Meeting with VPI...why not reinstate Lib 127 as an elective (2 credit course) to meet identified need for IL? PT faculty needing an update on IL skills could take course...students would have an opportunity to substantially explore IL concepts.
October 2010: VPI, Deans, librarians and chairs of Humanities Dept. and Comp. Committee. meet and decide to reinstate Lib. 127 while continuing to develop Lib 199 and Lib 299 courses and passing them through the COCC Curriculum Committee process. Lib 199 (soon to be ratified as Lib 101 or something similar) may be part of a learning community with CIS 70, WR 65...for transitional students.
November, 2010: Second IL workshop for WR faculty to be offered Nov. 19th. Hands on lab environment. Verified--pt instructors can be paid $25 to attend. About five faculty attended.
December 2010: Cat, Tina and Maggie met regarding IL expectations for WR 60/65.
December 2010: Verified that PT faculty can receive tuition waiver for taking Lib 127 (Stephen Newcombe, 12/1/2010).
January 2011: Cat and Tina met with Sara Henson regarding IL in Study Skills courses.
January 2011: Librarians refine IL offerings for WR (and all) instructors at: http://campuslibrary.cocc.edu/Library+Services/Library+Instructional+Services/default.aspx.
January 2011: Material for Lib 100 and Lib 227 submitted to COCC Curriculum Committee.
February :
March 2011: Lib 100 and Lib 227 approved by COCC Curriculum
