1st YEAR SPANISH I Review (SPAN 101)

 PREREQUISITES:  Spanish 101, One year of high school Spanish, placement test score of 176 or more, and instructor's approval

CREDIT HOURS:  4

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

SPANISH 101 REVIEW is a REVIEW class for students who have already been through Spanish 101 or something equivalent (usually one or two years of high school Spanish).  The main focus of the class is on reviewing the grammar and vocabulary that you learned earlier.

EVALUATION:

Evaluation will be based on tests and Online workbook (Quia) activities (see below). 

You will be expected to read the grammar (language structure) on your own at the back of each chapter.  You will be responsible for knowing ALL the material in the book. This will prepare you to do well on your chapter tests.

GRADES (subject to adjustments): 

500 - Vocabulary Tests:  5 @ 100 points each
300 - Destinos Tests: 3 @ 100 points each
400
- Chapter Tests: 4 @ 100 points each
300 - On-Line (Quia) Workbook: 3 chapters @ 100 points per chapter (Pasos A,B,C combined = 1 chapter)
100 - Final (comprehensive) 
1,600 TOTAL

A = 92 - 100%       A- = 90 - 91%
B = 82 - 87%         B+ = 88 - 89%       B- = 80 - 81%
C = 70 - 77%         C+ = 78 - 79%      
D = 60 - 69%
F = 0 - 59%

There will be NO MAKEUP TESTS!  However, to accommodate an emergency, the lowest score score (OTHER THAN THE FINAL) will be thrown out. 

 

 

OTHER INFORMATION:

 

Students with documented disabilities who may need accommodations, who have any emergency medical information the instructor should know of, or who need special arrangements in the event of evacuation, should make an appointment with the instructor as early as possible, no later than the first week of the term.
