Final Project Directions

Final Project Part 1 -  Provide the following basic identifying information on your approved World Cinema Final Project film & director:

1.1  English-language Title of Film, and (if applicable) Foreign-Language Title of Film
1.2  Country/tries of film origin and/or of film's primary production company/ies
1.3  Year of film's first release
1.4  Language/s of spoken dialogue in original film release, and (if applicable)
       language of written subtitles
(e.g. English) in the version you viewed. 
1.5  Run-Time
(in minutes) of the film
1.6  MPAA Rating of the film; or, if NOT Rated, your best guess of what the rating would be
1.7  Film Director's Full Name
1.8  Film Director's Birth date and Birth place
(city + country), and (if applicable) the
      director's Death date and Death place.
1.9  List Film Director's film-related roles
(derived from the director's professional filmography)

Final Project Part 2 -  Provide a key quotation and a film synopsis/overview to introduce your (uninformed) readers to your selected film and its director - and be sure to cite your source/s.  You are encouraged, but NOT required, to provide accompanying graphic/s, but remember that graphic/s must also be cited!

2.1  Provide a key quotation from the film's dialogue and/or by the film director that reveals a significant theme of the film or a significant aspect of the film director's approach to filmmaking-- and be sure to cite the source/s of your quotation/s.
2.2  Provide a brief synopsis of the film's plot
(which may or may not include "spoilers") and overview commentary on the film's strongest features (i.e. those that would encourage your readers to want to view this film)--and be sure to cite any source/s you quote or paraphrase to create your synopsis and overview.

Final Project Part 3 -  Provide an MLA-style Works Cited bibliographical entry for the film itself, accurate filmographical information identifying key personnel who made the film, identify the film's major characters and performers in the film - and be sure to cite your source/s.

3.1  Provide a correctly formatted MLA-style Works Cited bibliographical entry for the film itself - including for the DVD or videotape version you viewed.
3.2  Provide accurate filmographical information identifying key personnel
(e.g. director, producer/s, screenplay writer/s, cinematographer/director of photography, film editor/s, and other key crew member/s you deem significant) responsible for making this film.
3.3  Provide accurate filmographical information identifying the film's major characters, brief character descriptions, and the performers who played these parts
in the film.
3.4  Recommend to your readers & cite your source/s of filmographical information.

Final Project Part 4 -  Create a Film Worksheet of Topics/Questions and your Responses to each of your Topics/Questions, to direct others' study of your selected film derived from your research and your own film viewing. 

4.1  Create at least 5 thoughtful topics/discussion questions especially pertinent to study of this film.
4.2  Provide your responses to these discussion questions/topics derived from your own viewing observations and/or from your research on others' film reviews/commentaries - and be sure to cite appropriately any summaries, paraphrases, and/or direct quotations you take from other source/s to avoid plagiarism.

Final Project Part 4 EXAMPLES: You can begin by reviewing Cora's Worksheets for example topics/questions and your own previously completed Worksheets for example responses.  In addition, Cora's film Introduction handouts often include topics particularly relevant to study of the films, together with responses in the form of quotations/paraphrases from film commentaries and/or interviews with the directors.  When you draw upon source/s for topics and/or responses, be sure to cite your sources in text and in your Works Cited to avoid plagiarism!

Final Project Part 5 -  Provide a list of Works Cited and Recommended Sources, giving complete bibliographical information in correct MLA style for each source listed.  Alphabetize your list and be sure to include a bibliographical entry for the film itself.
